Are You eligible?
Thousands of UK households qualify for free energy-saving upgrades through the ECO4 and Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) — but many don’t realise it. We’ve broken down the criteria below so you can see if you might be eligible.
ECO4 Scheme Eligibility
You may qualify for the ECO4 Scheme if you:
- Are a homeowner or a private tenant
- Live in a home with an EPC rating of D, E, F, or
Receive at least one of the following benefits:
- Universal Credit
- Pension Credit (Guarantee or Savings)
Housing Benefit - Child Benefit (income limits apply)
- Child Tax Credit
- Working Tax Credit
- Income Support
- Job Seeker’s Allowance (JSA)
- Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
ECO4 Flex may also apply if:
Your household income is under £31,000, or You or someone in your household has a health condition worsened by living in a cold home (e.g. respiratory or cardiovascular issues)
GBIS (Great British Insulation Scheme) Eligibility
You may qualify for GBIS if:
- You own or rent a property with an EPC rating of D, E, F or G
- You do not need to be on benefits
- Your home has high heating costs, and you’re part of a low-income or vulnerable household
GBIS covers insulation-only measures, such as:
- Loft insulation
- Cavity wall insulation
- Solid wall insulation (where applicable)
